CAREER DAY CHAPEL ON DEC. 7TH!!

GRADE 6 STUDENTS,

In Grades 4, 5, and 6, we are studying possible CAREERS you may be interested in having when you grow up.  Each student will be researching a career he/she is interested in pursuing in the future, OR maybe one you want to find out more about!!  Some of our researching and writing  will be done in school, BUT you are allowed to do some of the work at home, with help from your parents, if you wish!!  Keep reading to find out all the details!!

BELOW ARE TWO WEBSITES YOU MAY USE TO INVESTIGATE YOUR CHOSEN CAREER.

  • www.bls.gov/k12/azlist.htm –This website lists careers in ABC order.  You choose a job and “click” on it.  It takes you to that site and will share information—the training and education needed, earnings, expected job prospects, what the workers do on the job, and working conditions.  This is a U.S. website, so will share information from there.
  • www.career-descriptions.co.uk/complete-list-of-careers.htm    This website lists ALL careers in ABC order.  You “click” on the one you want and it will give you information like:  What am I going to do in this occupation?  Requirements, Where can I work? Can I work for myself in this occupation?
  • Students may also “Google” the career and find more information.

HERE ARE THE STEPS TO FOLLOW:

1.     Have your notes completed by Tuesday, Nov. 29th. (Use the worksheet provided.  Make sure you cite the websites used.)

2.      Write a first draft paragraph about the career you chose. Instructions will be given to you for the format. This will be due on Thursday, Dec. 1st.

3.     Type a FINAL copy by Monday, Dec. 5th.

4.     Two students will be chosen to read their paragraphs in our “Career Days” Chapel on Wednesday, Dec. 7th.  You may “dress up” as the person in that career
